Explosion Proof Actuator UL Class 1 Div 1
Explosion Proof Actuator UL Class 1 Div 1.
This explosion proof actuator is certified to operate safely in hazardous locations as defined by UL (North America), ATEX (Europe/International) or CSA (Canada). Hazardous location certifications are determined based on the classification of the area and the methods used to protect against an internal explosion.
In North America, the term “hazardous location” describes an environment where there is a risk of fire or explosion due to flammable or explosive gases, combustible liquids, vapors, dusts, fibrous materials or flyings. This includes any location where such substances are likely to exist for long periods of time or during a substantial portion of normal operating conditions.
Motors that are designed for use in hazardous locations must be built and labeled to avoid igniting any of these substances. This is done through a number of different protection techniques that are typically categorized as: containment, energy limitation or isolation of ignition sources.
The hazardous location actuator features a specialized design that is engineered to reduce potential leak points that could lead to system failure. By eliminating the need for a solenoid and pneumatic actuation combination, this new actuator significantly decreases the number of connection points within the system. This significantly improves system reliability and allows for the maximum force output to be matched directly to the fire suppression systems operating pressure.
The hazardous location actuator is available for order today for all gaseous fire suppression applications. It is compatible with lug and wafer ductile iron butterfly valves as well as cast steel flanged and plugged valves. Additionally, it is fully compatible with the WE Series WE Weather-proof and XE Explosion-proof electric actuators that are designed for quarter-turn operating of ball valves, butterfly valves, plug valves and dampers. All parallel ISO threads on this actuator are plated to a minimum of 6g/6H with eight full threads for superior corrosion resistance. Additionally, the hazardous location actuator enclosure and flame paths are constructed of passivated 304SS to resist the harshest environmental conditions. Explosion Proof Electric Actuator – YouTube
